Remove Duplicate Bookmarks in Chrome
Scan your entire bookmark tree, group exact and near-duplicate URLs, and clean them up in one click — locally, for free.
Years of one-click saving leave every Chrome profile with the same article bookmarked three times under three different folders. Chrome has no built-in way to find them.
Bookmark Commander's cleanup center scans your full bookmark tree in seconds, groups duplicates by normalized URL (ignoring tracking parameters and trailing slashes), and lets you keep the copy you want while removing the rest — all inside your browser.
How it works
- 1Install the Bookmark Commander extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- 2Open the Cleanup center from the side panel and hit Scan.
- 3Review duplicate groups — the copy to keep is pre-selected, and you can change it.
- 4Click Remove duplicates. Done — folders and order stay intact.
Frequently asked questions
Is the duplicate scan really free?
Yes. All local features — search, management and cleanup, including duplicate removal — are free forever. Only AI organize and cloud backup are paid.
Are my bookmarks uploaded to a server?
No. The scan runs entirely in your browser using Chrome's bookmarks API. Nothing leaves your machine unless you explicitly create a cloud backup.
What counts as a duplicate?
Exact URL matches, plus near-duplicates that differ only by tracking parameters (utm_*), fragment, or a trailing slash. You review every group before anything is deleted.
Can I undo a cleanup?
Create a free backup snapshot before cleaning — you can restore from it at any time. The cleanup itself also shows exactly what will be removed before you confirm.
